Fine quality. Excellent fit.
Marcos –
No regrets, I’m going to purchase new colors.
Nora –
Beautiful belt. I purchase both colors to match in both shoes to the matching belt. So beautiful and look great together. Very nice polished look.
Nora –
Beautiful quality.
Bill –
Looks great, soft and lightweight yet it feel cheap. I’m a 33″ waist so I bought the 34″ fits perfect and it matches my shoes.
Disappointed –
I bought this belt to go with a pair of shoes they match. At first I was very pleased because this belt is significantly lower in price than anything else in this style, but after just three times of wearing the belt, the front is scuffed where the buckle passes over it and the surface is splitting just from the bend of being buckled. Completely unexpected and entirely unsatisfactory for a belt that is essentially brand new. I can only conclude that the leather quality is extremely low on these belts. Based on this experience I don’t think I will do business with J&M again.
Ivan J –
This belt pairs well with a brown J&M pair of shoes. I’m a 30 waist and the size 32 was too small for me. Suggest going 4 inches longer than your waist size.
Greg –
I stumbled upon this Johnston and Murphy (J&M) belt here in Zappos. For some reason or other, I had never seen a J&M belt in any stores. I have been a longtime devotee of their shoes, though, so I didn’t think twice about ordering the belt. Frankly, I was expecting something equivalent to all of the other junky belts sold at department stores….you know the ones that use a compression pin buckle closure that invariably fails when you are dr swing for an important meeting when you are out of town and have only one belt with you? So I was very happy to receive a belt that looked like those other belts (although even nicer) but which has real, solid metal buckle hardware which has been sewn into the belt’s construction (NOT clamped on with a toothy compression fitting).
Other standout features include classy brogue detailing and beautiful, rich colors ( like burgundy and walnut ) which match perfectly to J&M shoe colors. The J&M belt, on the other hand, has been made of solid buckle hardware that has been sewn into the belt’s construction, permanently, making it virtually impossible to fail.
Final notes….for the record, I deliberately waited a year before posting a review. During this time my belt has seen very frequent use. Like most men, I own very few belts. Basically I have 4 dress belts (shiny black, matte black, brown and Cordoban) and 3 casual belts (black, brown and navy). I wear this belt at least 3 days a week every week, so I have worn it at least 150 times since purchasing it. I have scuffed it up and restored it with shoe polish half a dozen times. I have lost weight and added an additional hole to the belt. And in spite of using it every other day or so, it still looks great and works beautifully. I have since purchased two more exactly the same in different colors and I don’t expect to have to replace any of them for a long time.
I can safely recommend this belt to anyone who is tired of thinking of belts as a consumable or disposable item. This belt will last a long time and is worth every penny you will pay for it. Treat it like a good pair of shoes ( occasionally polishing it and applying scuff concealer where needed) and it may be one if the last belts you ever buy.

We have purchased from Johnston Murphy before and have always been impressed with the quality and look of the shoes. This was just a bit extra special because the shoes and belt purchased are for our upcoming nuptial ceremony. They are perfect!
